How to Choose Your Cornhole Team Names

Playing cornhole requires two teams. These teams can be individuals or can have multiple players. Regardless of how you play, each team needs to have a name!

Sure, you can go with something simple like “Joe’s team” or “Blues,” but those just aren’t very much fun! If you’re playing in a tournament, a name will definitely be necessary. And even if you’re playing just for fun, a name adds some excitement to the games.

You could even create your own cheers if you want to. Take a look at these tips to help you choose your team names

Make It Fun

When you’re thinking of those name options, remember to keep it fun. After all, fun is what cornhole is really all about, right? You can find a variety of name recommendations and make this as humorous as you want it to be.

Of course, you can make up your own name instead of choosing something off a list that millions of other people can see.

Your team name doesn’t have to be serious or even make any sense. This is meant to represent your team, and you should enjoy the process. Some funny choices out there include names like “The Beanie Weenies,” “The Corn Thugs,” “The Cornholios.”

These are just a few examples. Don’t feel obligated to use these or any just like them to have a fun name. It doesn’t have to be fun or understood by others. It just needs to be fun for you and your team.

Make It Unique

One challenge that you might run into is creating a name that is wholly unique. This is where it gets tricky. A quick Google search will suggest hundreds of names, which means finding one that’s not already used could be close to impossible.

But just because you can search and find so many names doesn’t mean they are all being used. Stay away from top names in those lists, or you will find many teams with names similar to yours.

Otherwise, make the effort to make your cornhole team names unique. Find some way to make it stand out from other team names. Instead of using a play on words with “cornhole,” you can come up with something completely non-traditional.

You can use something that has meaning between you and your team. Or you could come up with a name that is totally off the wall. The beauty of it is that this is completely up to you.

Make It Corny

Many people out there like to choose cornhole team names that are a bit on the “corny” side. Some of the funny names we mentioned earlier take this approach.

Making it corny could mean a name based on corn. It could also just be creating a name that is really silly overall. Here are a few corny names for inspiration:

  • Shuck Dynasty
  • Cornballs
  • The Corncobs
  • The Peppercorns
  • Corn Flakes
  • Corn to Be Wild
  • The Cornslingers

What’s In a Name?

Your team name is going to represent your team indefinitely. It makes a statement about your team. You want to make an impact on the other teams around you…perhaps even inspire a little bit of fear when they look at the tournament team roster.

Ok, so you might not be able to scare them that easily, but you can make them wonder what your team is all about based on the name. Whether you set out to make people laugh or you want to create a name that seems serious and intimidating, it’s totally up to you.

There is No Wrong Name

We can give you tips all day long for choosing a name. You can write down a list of name ideas and decide none of them feel right.

When all is said and done, the name just needs to be something that you and your team are happy with. Despite the best tips and ideas out there, you don’t have to use these methods to create a name.

If you have a great idea, don’t question it! Just use it. Your team name is all about your team, so you can’t get it wrong. No matter what type of name you choose, it’s going to be great.

It doesn’t have to be funny or corny. It can be unique and meaningful. There is no wrong answer here.

Be Proud of Your Name

Once you choose a team name, use it with pride. When you play for fun, use the name. When you head out to tournaments, live up to your name.

The real goal here is to be able to successfully be a team. We doubt this will be an issue for you.
