When it comes to creating custom cornhole boards, the process is all about you. Whether you’ve looked up inspiration for designs or you’ve already got some ideas in mind, it can be a hard choice to make.
We’ve put together some simple tips to help guide you through choosing your own custom cornhole set.
Look Up Design Inspiration
If you don’t have a specific design in mind, it can help to look for inspiration. There are thousands of designs out there already. You can search different categories and themes to see if anything stands out to you.Your custom cornhole boards don’t have to look like any of those other designs, but something you find might give you some great ideas!
There are several details to consider. Are you using a specific color scheme? What type of graphics do you want? Will you be adding a photo or scene of some sort?
Consider the Details
When it’s time to create the board of your dreams, every detail matters. The company making the board might have suggestions and will ultimately be in charge of bringing your design to life. However, they are also going to create based on your specifications.
One thing most people forget to consider for their custom cornhole boards is the hole. If you choose a design that spans the entire board, remember that the hole will be in the design. Make sure that the hole isn’t going to take away from your design.
What about the edges? Do you want the edges of the boards to be included in the grand design? Many times when people use scenery, they actually span it across both boards to create a full scene. You certainly don’t have to do it this way, but it’s something to consider!
Make It Personal
These custom cornhole boards are yours. Make a statement and let everyone know who they belong to. Some people choose to do this by adding a large monogram, or perhaps a family name.
You don’t have to choose a monogram, though. You could add a family crest, a personal photo, or initials. These don’t even have to be the prominent part of your design. You might choose to simply add some initials in the bottom corner of a design.
You can personalize a board without adding your name. However, something that represents you in some way is a great concept!
Color Scheme
An essential part of board design is its color scheme. This includes any added graphics and logos, as well as painting the wood itself. Some people choose to just use stained wood and then implement their added designs over the natural wood.Of course, you can also have the board painted any color you choose. For example, some people might opt for a salute to their favorite sports team by using the team colors.
Don’t worry - you don’t have to finish the boards yourself. We do that part for you! But we do need to know what colors you want and a general idea of the design you like.
Don’t Forget the Game
One thing we want to mention is that you have to play on these boards. Custom cornhole boards aren’t meant to be used as a display. As you are choosing your design, keep in mind elements that will affect the game.
Some designs can play tricks on your eyes and make it more challenging to get your bean bags through the hole when you toss. Try to visualize cornhole boards with your design and figure out just where the hole will fall in correlation to the design.
Is the design going to be distracting when you play? Will the design make it harder to make your shot?
If you answered yes to any of these, adjusting the design might fix the problem.
Don’t Forget Accessories
Finally, once you get your custom cornhole boards designed and planned out, you’ve got to think about the finishing touch. All sets need some sort of accessories. For example, you need cornhole bags to go with your boards.
A custom set will come with bags as part of the set. However, you might decide that you want different colored bags. If you don’t get to choose your color with the set, you may want to consider purchasing a corresponding color to match your boards. It’s part of the fun, after all!
Those aren’t your only accessories, either. There are lots of ways to accessorize your boards. You can add lights to the hole and/or the frame of the cornhole boards, opt for magnetic scorekeepers, or add a carrying case.
